Letting It Go

Elbow deep in the suds,

cooking,

driving children,

intrudes with awkward, sweet familiarity–

a poem waiting to be born.

The kiss between ears,

the leap of heart,

as whirring slows to a blur

asking for the attention

it would take

to become word on paper.

No

time

to

write

I

shed

a

tear.

What is the lesson

in letting it go?

    Such a question, and *hugs*

One of those knew-fangled Microsoft Surface thingies might be a nice thing for you down the road.

Oh thank you Nelle. Yesterday, I had a pain in my leg I have never had before and I realized it must be from taking my foot on and off the pedals in So. Cal traffic all day. This morning on the way home from my first drop off I pulled over to write this, tears streaming. So dramatic I know.:) So for me I think I need to work at balance– a microsoft surface thingie sounds good!:) I also want something I can stick my head in like a space suit top so everyone can know I am taking a thinking break.:)

I love how experiential your poetry is. . . speaks to me of family/parenting life. . . letting go and putting others’ needs first. . . sometimes a challenge. . . and yet still finding time to birth a poem or two. . . blessings. . .

I was happy to write something down–most happy to get from the blur to the word. Why is that?:) Take care, Jennifer

In the book “Imagine” Jonah Lehrer explains that the quite is a part of the creative process. It does deplete while our creative appetite seeks new, fresh ways to express, to perceive, to render. The pain of not having much to give when once the creative garden was flourishing with vivid efficiency can be frustrating, even depressing, but the fact is, if you want for it to come back, it will. Trust that it is your gift, the voice of expression lives even when it is out of words and as sure as the spring comes and goes, so will our poetry…

Oh Jennifer, your words have such a beauty in their rawness. You expressed that question soooo eloquently and honestly; one that I’ve asked (and still do) many, many times. Sending you blessings, light and love for a moment of peace :-) xoxo

Oh man can I ever relate….there are still seeds of thought that were born, floating around somewhere, and I had no time to stop and capture it before it sailed away…. some of those things came back, and some have not…. if you learn the lesson, I would like to know it too… :)

Phew – I can relate to this one. I sometimes use my mobile to record my poems. I hope you can juggle some time for yourself – not easy with the demands of a family ((hugs)) xxx
