Sadie’s Mirror

Sadie’s mirror

Round and open

Rested patiently

Above her bathroom sink

Until the days

When the house was quiet

Giving Sadie time to stand

Alone and free

Naked in front of her

When Sadie would laugh

Her mirror would laugh too

Until the day it kept her mouth

Drawn in a firm caring line

And waited to hear the thoughts

Behind Sadie’s quick smiles

Sadie grew to appreciate the love

Telling the mirror all of her sad stories

Every cruel and unusual detail

Exactly how she had experienced them

Until one day the mirror

Put a finger to Sadie’s mouth

And told her stories back

This time as sparkling, glowing tales of Love.

Out of misery’s telling

Comes the true gift

That is Compassion.

I’ve always wanted to write something about standing in front of the mirror. You capture it very well. Well written!!!

Was thinking of your post of a few days back…you did a great description of a woman in her nakedness…and with your humor! Thanks for always reading Nelle.

    I loved these lines, Jennifer:

    “Until one day the mirror
Put a finger to Sadie’s mouth”

Wonderful words!!! Very nice poem, I enjoyed reading it.

🙂 My favorite line too…after the angst and exploration comes time for revelation…finally phew…something like that for me.:) Thank you Angela.
