A Marriage Prayer

Take care to

Build your union

Sacred

A gentle,

Wide open scaffold

So that it may hold

And protect your love

Until your bodies

And your minds

Come to pour

Like honeycomb

Drips

Golden thick

And sticking onto

All the life

That surrounds

Use your marriage

To harbor love

Like honey between you

Until that glue

Overabundant

Overflows

Oozes in such sweet

That it can be used

To infuse

So much more good

Into this world

(This year

And all others,

May our marriage

Grow our love

So that we may

Give more love to others

Amen.)

Reblogged this on Jenny Kissed Me and commented:

What I know now that I did not know in 1991 and even for many years after that, is that marriage would be, for me, more than a commitment to keep loving, honoring and cherishing Hemu. Marriage would become a way of life that would help me grow by challenging my weaknesses and by building up all of my strengths. Because of marriage, I’ve been able to grow to be a more loving and fulfilled human being. I am so grateful to Hemu for being committed to our marriage no matter what. For what I didn’t know in 1991 was that it wouldn’t always be easy. I didn’t know that knights in shining armor fall off horses and that princesses turn into witches. If it wasn’t for marriage I would have never learned such sweet lessons as fully as I have been able; lessons about forgiveness, self-acceptance, compassion and love. Hemu is the best partner for this life that I could have, and I can’t imagine this life without him as my husband.
