About this blog

Hi Everyone,

After a 20 year break, I am getting back to writing and would love to share my poems with anyone who is interested in reading them.  I am hoping this blog will help me grow in my writing so all feedback is appreciated.

 Much Love and Peace,

Coming Out

Help me hold onto the smile of my delicious new secret.

The unveiling came so sweet as I embraced my shame.

Oh what bliss is in giving up self-loathing!

What a joyful suprise,

My once burdensome failings have been born again into my greatest gifts!

After so many years of sad hiding and overriding,

Called out into the open and accepted,

Introversion, introspection and emotionality become all that is the joy of worshiping and sharing beauty!

I’ve spent too much time imagining myself a fool.

I am a breath of fresh air.

Gratitude is pouring from my soul and covering my world until it glistens.

Help me hold onto the smile of my delicious new secret,

I want to tell you because I want to stay exposed, happy and free–

I am a poet and acting like one makes my heart sing!

Jennifer, I enjoy the concentrated simplicity in your poetry and prose. 20 years – what a great reservoir of creativity, perspective, and refining. You know what they say about wine, especially Bordeaux. So glad you opened a bottle and poured me a glass! cheers!

    Hi Jennifer,
Wow! Three likes in one day deserves a visit… so, here I am.

You are very lucky to have been able to spend time with your grandmother (I did not know either of mine), and it sounds like she passed on lots of love (which is what being a grand-parent is all about).

    Keep up the good work…

I don’t normally read a lot of poetry, but I came here because you ‘liked’ one of my posts (Thank you!), and I find myself returning to read some of the poems several times. They are very personal and powerful, and the repeated reading reveals new depths each time.

I like to call myself a poet too, but sometimes I still say it with an excuse, shy shrug or giggle. I have to just own it and declare it. I too enjoy being part of an online community to share my poems, thoughts, feelings and photos … AND to receive the same from others whom I may never meet but feel a kindred spirit with. Thank you for sharing your lovely poems. You are so gifted!

🙂 Thank you for taking the time to read and share. I appreciate it so much! One thing about being poets is we always have an excuse for looking for meaning and metaphor. What could be more beautiful.:) Glad to have “met” you!

    Hi Jenny,

Thanks so much for liking my blog post, The Jungle Tattoo. Like your grandmother, I also love the poem “Jenny Kissed Me” and can recite it by memory. It’s funny which poems choose to follow us through our lives. Nobody named Jenny has ever kissed me, but still that poem has really resonated and stuck with me for years : )

Just curious, are you in the LA area? There are some writing workshops and poetry readings I could introduce you to if you’re trying to get back into your writing near by.

Hi. Just a heads up. I think you should change your ‘primary blog’ in your settings. Your primary blog is where people are directed if they click on your name (say, when you make a comment on their blog and your name and gravatar appear), and right now it is set to jeglatter.wordpress and I always get a “this blog has been deleted” message. It would be a shame if people wanted to discover your work (like me) and land on a deadend instead of on here. 🙂
